Michael Martin Murphey Honored at Western Heritage Museum Awards


OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA (April 15, 2019) — Texas native and Western artist Michael Martin Murphey was honored this weekend at the 59th Annual Western Heritage Museum Awards at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, OK. Murphey, well known for his outspoken passion for the Western Lifestyle, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his nearly 50 years producing celebrated Western music. 

Murphey is know for such huge hits as “Wildfire,” “Carolina In The Pines,” “Geronimo’s Cadillac,” “Long Line of Love,” “What’s Forever For,” “Cowboy Logic” and more.

Others honored this weekend included famed actor Kevin Costner, who was celebrated for his work in Western films, including "Dances With Wolves," "Open Range," "Silverado" and more. Also, the entire McEntire family (including Reba) was on hand to honor 3-time champion steer roper (and family patriarch) Clark McEntire, the late George McJunkin was honored, and popular cowboy entertainer Dave Stamey was present with the Chester A Reynolds Award.
