Show celebrates Loretta Lynn's golden anniversary on Opry
Loretta Lynn's 50th anniversary as a member of the Grand Ole Opry will be celebrated on this week's episode of Noteworthy at the Opry, Saturday, Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. eastern on Great American Country (GAC).
Lynn performs You Ain't Woman Enough, is joined by Trace Adkins on Lead Me On, and the Pistol Annies, Lee Ann Womack and her sister Crystal Gayle for her signature Coal Miner's Daughter. Other performances include Carrie Underwood's You're Lookin' At Country, Miranda Lambert's Honky Tonk Girl, Lee Ann Womack's I Know How, and Crystal Gayle's Don't Come Home A Drinkin'.
Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Sara Evans, Kix Brooks and Trace Adkins are featured in interviews. "She was a mama and a housewife but she didn't sing somebody else's songs," Lambert said of Lynn's songwriting talent. "She sang her own songs about that stuff."
Underwood shared the story of the first time she met Lynn, which was backstage at the Opry. "I was doing an interview, and I was very engaged, and somebody walked up behind me and smacked me on the rear," Underwood said, laughing. "That was my introduction to Loretta Lynn; she spanked me."
The show will re-air OIct. 28 at 1 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Oct. 30 at 9 p.m.
