SECOND ANNUAL “NO SHAVE NOVEMBER” TO BENEFIT ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL®

09/10/2012

Beginning this year, Country Cares Radio stations are encouraged to rally teams with a goal of at least 100 participants and throw their own "Beard Bash" as well.

The cost to enter the challenge is $30 and sign-up is at www.stjude.org/noshavenovember. On Nov. 1, participants will start with a clean shave and post a photo of themselves with that day's newspaper on their fundraising page to officially enter the competition. On Nov. 30, participants will submit their final facial hair photos, again with that day's newspaper.

Participants will then gather for a "Beard Bash" at a to be determined location in Nashville, where prizes will be awarded to the finalists and a "No Shave November Champion" will be crowned by a panel of celebrity judges. A "Beard" of Directors (see below) has also been instated to gain a better perspective from radio and other labels while pulling in even more participants.

The First Annual "No Shave November" awards included "The Whisker Award" (the beard that raised the most money) for Billy Greenwood ($3,185), "The MVP Award"(the person who did the most to spread the word about the event) to Chuck Aly, The More Salt Than Pepper Award" (the beard with the most gray)to Damon Moberly, "The Shoulda Shaved November Award" (the worst beard)to Bob Reeves, "The Lindsay Lohan Award" (the best mug shot)to Andy Woods, "The Hairy Potter Award" (the person who looks the most like Harry Potter with a beard)to John Flint and "The Beard of the Year Award" to Brian Bowling.

"No Shave November" Rules and Regulations:

Participants cannot shave for the entire month of November (Clean-up shaving will be allowed around the neck and the upper part of the cheeks).

For a $30 donation to St. Jude, a third party can pay for a participant to shave before the end of the month, or trump that request to shave. Participants also can pay $30 to shave before the end of the competition. On Nov. 30, participants are asked to take a picture showing off their final facial hair with that day's newspaper (or other documentation of the date).

Beard Bashes will be held in Nashville as well various locations across the country on Nov 30th to commemorate the end of the competition.
