Naomi Judd is branching out.

The country singer is set to star in the Hallmark Channel original movie “The Nearlyweds,” which will premiere 8 p.m. Saturday Jan. 12 on the network.

The movie, which co-stars Danielle Panabaker from Piranha 3D, was written by Aury Wallington and is based on the novel Nearlyweds by Beth Kendrick. Filming began in Vancouver last week.

The Nearlyweds is a romantic comedy that follows three couples who learn the pastor who married them died before he signed the marriage license. With that knowledge, the couples then must decide whether they want to get married for real or end their relationship.
